Times have changed!

Summer is here and most of our academic summer camps have concluded! Hopefully, you are enjoying moments with your children and family. As a district, we are nearing our two-week summer closure and are also eager to enjoy a little time with our families.



In this edition, we want to celebrate the accomplishments of the middle school in the attendance rocks program, reflect on the adventures had at Camp Invention and the Bilingual Pre-K and Kindergarten camps as well as provide you with pertinent back to school information. Please remember to take a few moments to complete the online registration and make plans to participate in the onsite registrations, if needed.

Lancaster ISD Child Nutrition Department Continues Free Annual Summer Feeding Program

Healthy eating and nutritious meals are still cool even in the hot summer months. In Lancaster ISD, the Child Nutrition Department wants to ensure that all children have the opportunity to receive wholesome meals daily and is providing free breakfast and lunch to any child, ages 1-18, who comes to the designated Lancaster ISD Campuses during the scheduled serving times and at locations listed below.

It is important to note that the meals are only served on the days and during the time(s) scheduled.

Lancaster High School Student Wins 3rd Place in TAME State STEM Competition

Lancaster High School 11th grade student, Dewitt Hunter, won third place in the Engineering Math section of the 33rd annual TAME State STEM Competition held the YMCA Collin County Adventure Camp in Anna, Texas. Hunter, who is also a member of the LHS En gineering Robotics club, was one of 28 Dallas County students selected to participate in the state-wide competition sponsored by Raytheon. Hunter said that events such as this competition offers great field learning opportunities.

New District Anti-Truancy Initiative Removes Barriers for Student Success

Due to the receipt of the MetroTex Association of Realtors Charitable Trust Public Education Grant grant and Lancaster ISD Truancy Coordinator Dona Mitchell’s anti-truancy initiative, four campuses now have a new washer and dryer for teachers to utilize at any time throughout the day. Mitchell, who applied for the grant, believes that this is a major step in truancy prevention and will help teachers continue to remove barriers and fulfill the needs of students.

Home Depot Sows into Lancaster ISD Students

When Houston Health Science Technology Pre-K Bilingual Teacher Dolores Martell agreed to sow her time into sponsoring the new garden club requested by a class of third grade students, she was not aware of the reward of kindness awaiting her arrival just down the street at her local Home Depot store in Lancaster, Texas.

The month of April has been a time of remarkable celebration of the hard work of students in Lancaster ISD even amid the peak season of testing.

The district campuses and staff honored students for their character and academic excellence, celebrated student athletes, held the annual Special Olympics and various Fine Arts showcases. Although, we are nearing the close of this memorable school year, we are still teaching, students are learning and of course, testing.

We are about 30 days from the last day of school, and we anticipate the celebrations of our staff and students success and the culmination of another year of excellence in education!

Lancaster ISD STEM Expo to Feature Academic Showcase, Rite of Passage Ceremony, Student Performances, Book Fair, Workshops and More

The event will take place on Saturday, April 28 from 9 AM to 12 PM at Lancaster High school. There will be student presentation stations, vendor booths and activity stations, the 4C Gifted and Talented Competition, a buy one, get one free book fair and various Fine Arts performances throughout the day after the morning kicks off with the celebratory Rites of Passage Ceremony. This free event is open to everyone – parents, students, friends and community members.
