Lancaster ISD Students Excel in Engineering Competition

Sixteen Lancaster High School students participated and placed in the Texas Alliance for Minorities in Engineering (TAME) Math, Science, Engineering competition held at the Tarrant County Community College SE Campus in Fort Worth, TX. During the competition, the participants took a timed math and science test administered by grade level as well as an Engineering Design Challenge.

In February, the district campuses and staff celebrated culture, college access, and kindness in addition to providing our students with a world-class learning experience.
The College and Career Readiness Department sealed more great college access connections for our students with the addition of new partnerships. The Academics and Innovation team hosted the Black History Bowl and Competition for the students and we also marked the 100th day of school at the top of the month!
These are just a few of the wonderful happenings of February 2018. We definitely expect greater things to occur during this semester as we prepare for the state testing season.

Join Team Lancaster ISD: Attend the Job Fair On March 3

Lancaster ISD is hiring and offering $5,000 stipends for certified educators in high-need subject areas such as English I & II, Algebra I & II, Dual Credit, and Bilingual (Spanish). The district also has positions in various departments including instructional, support, administrative, custodial and maintenance. Additionally, the district is recruiting professionals to continue the advancement of its Career and Technical Education Health Science Technology program and is allocating a $80,000 starting salary for those who hold an active RN license or higher in the field.

We hosted our annual male mentorship summit, the 2018 class from Leadership Southwest and a site visit from the H-E-B Finalist judges panel. Lancaster ISD Kicks Off Month-Long Reading Challenge

All members of the community are encouraged to join students and staff by taking the online pledge to allocate 15 minutes each day to reading this month.

The criteria of the challenge encourages reading together as a family, reading before bed time, participating in read-aloud activities with family and/or friends, visiting the City of Lancaster Veterans Memorial Library or your local library to check out a new book.

George Washington Carver Student Wins District Spelling Bee

Lancaster ISD recently hosted its annual District Spelling Bee at Lancaster High School for fourth through seventh grade students. The evening consisted of 8 spelling bee scholars and 16 rounds. At the close of the first seven rounds, two students remained to vie for the top seat.

Harmonee Lester from George Washington Carver 6th Grade STEM Learning Center was in strong competition with fifth grade student, Alexis Evans from Rosa Parks - Millbrook Information Systems & Software Designs Academy. Both students were first time participants and eager to win.
