Principal CoSheda Hurd

Welcome G.W. Carver Scholars and Parents. My name is CoSheda Hurd and I am the principal at G.W. Carver 6th Grade STEM Learning Center. This year has gotten off to a very exciting start and I truly anticipate that we will continue to have an amazing educational adventure during this school year! My purpose this year is to support our scholars and teachers in any way that leads them to growing into great leaders in our school and community. I look forward to partnering with each of you to bring this purpose to fruition.

Shortly after graduating from college and working as a Juvenile Probation Officer, I realized that my purpose was not to re-integrate students into societal norms, but to teach them those norms before becoming a part of the criminal justice system. Since making that choice my passion has been to positively impact the academic experiences and social behaviors for every child I touch. To quote the campus affirmation statement of GWC, our purpose is:
"Carving Minds
Transforming Lives
Engineering the Future"

"The greatest sign of a success for a teacher...is to be able to say, "The children are now working as if I did not exist." -- Maria Montessori
